  1. Capturing offscreen windows

    Hi,

Is it possible to capture the entire window (with decorations),
which is intentionaly put offscreen, into a bitmap ?

On Windows it is possible to capture offscreen window using API
PrintWindow() function or playing with WM_PRINT/WM_PRINTCLIENT
messages. The window is rendered into memory DC which has
    associated bitmap with it.

Is there something similar in X ?

Only if you have backing store enabled, and even then it might not be
    straight-forward.
