Hi, could anyone explain how
X server, Xorg
ATI driver fglrx
DRI, DRM
all fit together?
I am confused as to how DRI, DRM has to do with direct rendering. I've
noticed on the gentoo documentation, it states that DRI is an
enhencement to X server by adding modules that support direct hardware
access. Then what do fglrx or open source ATI driver do? don't they
precisely provide direct hardware access to kernel?
Also, why is it that when I comment out " Load "dri" " in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf, direct rendering will be disabled, and be turned
into mesa renderer?
does it have to do with DRI ?

thanks!
