    What is the differences between

    freedesktop - http://freedesktop.org/
    x.org - http://wiki.X.Org


    They all say they are the X Server. Are they all just difference
    implimentations of X Server?

    The X server and a bunch of X clients like xterm. XFree86 is the
    initial version of X that was put together for x86 computers. X.org
    forked from XFree86 following a license dispute and some political
    piddling. Freedesktop.org is a standards site for people building
    desktop environments on top of X, but it looks like they're trying to
    convert the X code from its old imake-using ways over to autotools.
