Upon installing the latest drivers from ati, I get an average score of
600 FPS.
is that standard or is it low ?

It also depends on the video card - whether agp or pci, video memory, etc.
That value seems a little low - I get around 500 on my mini-itx 1mhz
system with onboard video.

At what resolution? I get about a third less at 28bpp than 16 bpp.

I removed the dri driver in Xfree86-4 FPS goes down to 224.
