Hi all :-)
Has anyone experienced this:
A Windows XP client logs on to a W2K domain. The user runs a loginscript
where network drives are mapped with the "net use ... " command. Normally
there is no problem with this ... but on occasion (cant figure out what
triggers it) the following happens:
The user logs in --> the network drives are mapped without problems -->
Somehow during the day the mapped network drives "disappears" ... that is ..
they are not visible in Explorer and users can not acces data from these
drives - e.g. from MS Word.
The "net use" command shows that the drives still exists and i can still
change to these drives in a command prompt or by typing e.g. u:\ in
If i try to map the drives again with the "net use" command i'm told ...
obviously .... that the driveletter is in use.
If the user logs out and back in the drives is restored and everything works
like a charm again.
.... weird!! ... it seems like the drives all of the sudden are hidden in
Explorer all though nothing indicates that they should be. Nothing in GP is
set to hide drives, and the
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\Nodrives /
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\Nodrives /
NoViewOnDrive is not set.
The problem exist on more than one Windows XP client - with separate
installations (not cloned)
The client(s) is Windows XP Pro SP1 (danish) with the latest patches and the
server(s) are W2K SP4 with the latest patches.
Thanks in advance for any help og hints given :-)
