    Hi Pran,

On a Windows system, an "Access is denied" message typically means another application has a lock or a hold on that particular file. On *NIX systems, it usually points to a file permissions issue of some sort. As a result, the Portal install is unable to complete successfully. I'd recommend two items:

    1) Manually cleanup the existing Portal 6.1 Express Installation per:
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...ninst_man.html

    2) Disable any antivirus, file indexing (Windows Search, Google Desktop, etc.), etc. software that may potentially try to scan or hold a file lock on that particular file.

Also, a suggestion: If you have access to Portal 6.1.0.1 CDs, and your business requirements will allow it, it is recommended to install Portal 6.1.0.1 base on your next install attempt rather than Portal 6.1.0.0 base.

Let us know how it goes!
    -Travis

    Hi travis,

Thanks for the reply. We did uninstall and tried again after stopping antivirus and other such services which might interfere with install. But again it got stuck while installing & configuring the Portal server. It gave the error - DB2 port not found

    Hi Pranjal,

Could you zip and upload the PortalServer/log directory? This will help figure out what the problem is, thanks!

    Hi,

We are facing issues while installing the websphere Portal Express trial version. The problem is occuring during the initialization of WebSphere Portal Express database.

It looks like there is a problem with the hostname that you used during installation or with the db2 server that gets installed:

com.ibm.db2.jcc.c.DisconnectException: [ibm][db2][jcc][t4][2043][11550] Exception java.net.ConnectException: Error opening socket to server PUNHJW69538d.ad.infosys.com/10.74.69.12 on port 50,000 with message: Connection refused: connect.

Looking at the screenshot you submitted, the DB2 server appears to be stopped. It looks like what you sent was not what I had asked for. I had asked for the PortalServer/log directory and you only submitted two logs from this directory. Could you please zip up the entire PortalServer/log directory and upload it?

Also can you confirm that you can successfully ping "PUNHJW69538d.ad.infosys.com"

  7. Re: Portal Express installation issue: com.ibm.ws.runtime_6.1.0.jar(Access is

    Hi Httweed,

Thanks for your reply. We tried the installation on another machine and we can ping the domain name without any issues. I am attaching the screenshot complete log directory & other related logs as requested.
There is some issue with DB2 for sure as earlier the setup was failing there itself. On searching somebody suggested to launch the install bat file with some command line arguments to supress the errors as described in - http://groups.google.com/group/ibm.s...27b652f6e5bcc4
It worked for this guy and we were trying the same.

    Thanks & Regards,

I think you may have a slightly different problem in this case. The Windows user you're logged in as seems to be unable to start the DB2 service that is created as part of the DB2 installation:

    ========================
1: The instance "WPDB2INS" has been created successfully.

1: The value "DFTDBPATH=C:" was set in the DBM CFG file for the "WPDB2INS"
    instance.

1: The value "SVCENAME=db2c_WPDB2INS" was set in the DBM CFG file for the
    "WPDB2INS" instance.

1: The value "DB2COMM=TCPIP" was set in the Profile Registry for the "WPDB2INS"
    instance.

1: ERROR:WPDB2INS : The dependency service or group failed to start.

SQL1042C An unexpected system error occurred. SQLSTATE=58004

1: ERROR:An error occurred while trying to start the "WPDB2INS" instance. The
return code is "4" and the SQL Message is: "PROCESS_ERROR"

    1: Configuring DB2 instances:.......Success
1: ERROR:SQL1032N No start database manager command was issued. SQLSTATE=57019
    ===============================

Is the Windows user you are using for installation a local administrator? With the failed installation right now, are you able to start the DB2 services manually?

  9. Re: Portal Express installation issue: com.ibm.ws.runtime_6.1.0.jar(Access is

    Hi Httweed,

Thanks a ton for your help.

The problem has been rectified. The service wasn't starting not due to insufficient privileges but due to dependencies. Some services are disabled by our company admins as part of the policy. We got them activated and the server was installed.

    Pranjal
