    not positive how you plan to display the content, if you are displaying it in custom portlet, or in one portlet on that one page, then it will make a difference.

    So not sure what you are going for but here is a scenario

    lets say you have 4 tabs across the top
    Company | HR | Security | Travel

    From these 4 you want to have side nav that pulls from your custom Content repository

    on each of these pages you put your custom portlet

    Then in the side nav, you check to see what page you are on, then from your content repository you say give me the articles or whatver for that item, lets say HR

    Then you build the urls targeting the current page and the portlet on the page, with passing in the params to that portlet on what article to pull and display from your content repository
