  1. Cannot install Portal 6.0. Keep getting Enabling Secutiry Failederror.

    Hi All,

Well after 7 attempts to install Portal 6.0 thought it was time to post a question. My problem is occurring right at the end of the installation process when attempting to enable the global security. Here is the exception:

    [wsadmin] ---- proc setAuthMech ----
[wsadmin] Required Authentication Mechanism is LTPA
[wsadmin] setting the Authentication Mechanism to:

Now i have tried a number of things. These being

    1. Taken out hyphen in the node and cell names
    2. Tried my IP address as the host name
    3. Installed to different directories (eg c:\Portal\IBM\... and C:\IBM\....)

i am using wpadmin as the username and password on both WAS and Portal.

I have been able to install it no problems on a test server. Another work client installed it fine. Seems myself and another collegue run into the exact same problem.

Any help would be much appreciated as we are losing valuable time.

  2. Re: Cannot install Portal 6.0. Keep getting Enabling SecutiryFailed error.

    Hi All,

I have the exact same issue.
I contact the other poster. But his solution did not work for me.
If you have any idea! I will take it.

    Thanks!

Are you trying to install Portal 6.0 on WAS 6.1?

  4. Re: Cannot install Portal 6.0. Keep getting Enabling SecutiryFailed error

    I install on WAS: 6.0.2.9
I do each time a typical installation.

  5. Re: Cannot install Portal 6.0. Keep getting Enabling SecutiryFailed error

This exception typically occurs when you do not meet hardware/software requirements for WebSphere Portal v6.0, which can be found here:

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...nst_req60.html

RAM is usually the culprit here, 2 GB minimum. If you only have 2 GB (or 1.8 or something like that), then I would strongly encourage you to disable any running process you can during Portal installation.

Symantec products and Google desktop are known to interfere with Portal installations due to file indexing. Any firewall software needs to be disabled as well during installation.
