On the support site, there is a general support statement on LDAP support for those not on the IBM support list. As long as the LDAP server follows the basic LDAPv3 RFC and others, it should work with Portal.

CA's eTrust Directory is not on the supported LDAP list. You may still be able to configure it to work with Portal. First, you need to identify which currently supported LDAP is close to eTrust Directory. For example, Novell eDirectory. Then you can save a copy of the WMM template file wmmLDAPAttributes_NDS.xml. Make changes to this file to fit the attribute names for the eTrust Directory. Pay special attention to "extId". If there is a unique attribute that applies to all supported member types, then you can use it; otherwise, make the mapping from extId to DistinguishedName.

After these changes, you can choose "NDS" in wpconfig.properties when you enter LDAP data into the file. Before running the actual task to enable security, it's recommended to run "validate-ldap" first to make sure the configurations pass some fundamental tests. After running "enable-security-ldap" or "enable-security-wmmur-ldap", you should have a working portal.

There could be some issues with vendor's implementation which can cause problems in user and group management.

This is only my own opinion. It doesn't represent any statement from IBM.

    Hi Fang,

    thanks for UR information.

I am new to LDAP configuration in portal server 6.0

can you provide more details how to connect the CA siteminder to portal server.

note: We are using the novell eDirectory for identity manager.

OK. CA's SiteMinder is what we called External Security Manager (ESM). There are several configuration tasks related to the configuration of SiteMinder. First of all, you need to enable security with Novell eDirectory and make sure the security works fine without SiteMinder. Then you should run "enable-sm-tai" or "enable-sm-authorization" or "enable-sm-all" depending on what you are trying to use SM for. Check the Portal 6.0 InfoCenter for details.
