Thread: To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

  1. To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

Objective is to route all messages of activity queue on multiple QM to a common local queue on a central QM.

    documentation at

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...oc/csq8704.htm

Describes the steps to create and use a common queue for activity reports but, couldn't follow.

Is there any other clear documentation for the same?

Right now going through the vast MQ documentation .. since it is linked to intercomminication so scanning through MQ6.0 Intercommunication guide.

In the meantime, appreciate any pointers, reference quickies.

To set up a common queue, do the following:

Select, or define, a queue manager as the single node.

On the single node select, or define, a queue for use as the common queue.

On all queue managers where activity reports are to be delivered to the common queue, redefine the local system queue SYSTEM.ADMIN.ACTIVITY.QUEUE as a remote queue definition specifying the following:

The name of the single node as the remote queue manager name.

The name of the common queue as the remote queue name.

  2. Re: To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

I went through intercommunication guide and found an interesting section 'Intra group queuing' that is about routing the remote queue messages to Coupling facility and other local queues can take messages from that.

It would have worked for me if local queue could have also send messages to Coupling facility.

It will be helpful if anyone can provide any clues...

    thanks

  3. Re: To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

Coupling Facility is only available on the z/OS SystemZ mainframe platform. All the queue managers in the queue sharing group need to be on systems which are connected to the same hardware coupling facility.

  4. Re: To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

I achieved this by creating SYSTEM.ADMIN.ACTIVITY.QUEUE as remote for a local queue on centralized QM...

Will explore trigger approach to achieve the same..

Pls let me know if there are any other cleaner approaches to do this

    thanks

  5. Re: To set up a common queue for local system activity queue

i guess the best way is to convert ACTIVITY.QUEUE from local to remote...
