Thread: Failed to execute the transaction from ihs61fp17 to was61fp17appserver

  1. Failed to execute the transaction from ihs61fp17 to was61fp17appserver

    Hello,

I'm trying to communicate from an IHS6.1-fixpack17 webserver to an
application server running was61-fixpack17 using the websphere plugin
    module mod_was_ap20_http.so.
Both servers run on AIX 5306 on IBM P5 pSeries.

    The httpplugin logs shows :
    XXX 2008] 00086016 0000a2a3 - ERROR: lib_htrequest: htrequestWrite:
Body read failed and request will be retried
    XXX 2008] 00086016 0000a2a3 - ERROR: ws_common:
websphereHandleRequest: Failed to execute the transaction to
'node_XXX_'on host 'nodeA'; will try another one

Althought the application seems to work ok I'm suspecting that with
each error I'm losing a session.
This doesn't make me feel comfortable, I rather run a setup without
    errors in the logs.

For some time now I'm struggling with this, I've tried upgrading to
the most recent versions but without much success.
    * When running a webserver on Solaris this errors doesn't show.
    * Running the older WAS5.1 plugin also works fine but isn't supported
    by IBM.

I'm wondering if I'm the only one bumping into this issue and if
someone has found a solution for this.

    regards,

And, on the WAS side, request post data and session were lost, and
    caused about 60s delay.

Have you found solution for this problem?

    Best regards,

We are experiencing the same issue as both of these messages. This is
since we upgraded to 6.1.0.17 from 6.1.0.11. This isn't happening in
our environments where we have a single web server pointed to the app
servers. It is only happening in our busier environments where we
also have an IP Sprayer handling traffic between two web servers.

    Also,

To add in a 3rd O/S to this. In my case, we are working with Windows
Server 2003 R2 32bit on the webservers and x64 on the app servers.

I haven't tried this yet, but here is what support says so far:

"Please be aware that there are known problems with the 6.1.0.15
    and
6.1.0.17 levels of the Plugin. So, if you did install the
    6.1.0.17
fixpack for the Plugin, then you should download and install the
    latest
Plugin apar fix (PK67161) which you can get from
    here:
    ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/...fixes/PK67161/
    "

Searching IBM for that PK yields: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview...id=swg1PK67161

  6. Re: Failed to execute the transaction from ihs61fp17 to was61fp17appserver

I can confirm this fix, PK67161, does resolve the issue on both 32bit
    and 64bit Windows for 6.1.0.17.
