  1. Re: WAS 6 too many open files problem

please try to check your limitations using util 'ulimit -a', namely 'open files' parameter may impacts on your problem
set new value for example: ulimit ?n 10000

but concerning your situation you should make changes in /etc/security/limits.conf
    - set the parameter to from under the WAS processes are launched.
    - increase nproc and nofile, reboot...

And another way is to set ulimit in the ~/.bashrc

    good luck

  2. Re: WAS 6 too many open files problem

I was wondering if the ulimit was able to solve your problem.

I am running websphere 6.1 and somehow I have been getting too many open files message when the port 443 stops accepting connections with this error message "FFDC failed to open or create incident stream".

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

  3. Re: WAS 6 too many open files problem

We too have an issue on the 'open files' with WAS6.1 and Linux. The cause seems not to be the 'ulimit' on Linux, but we experience this with an error in the systemout :

    [1/28/09 10:03:31:680 GMT+01:00] 0000012e NBAcceptChann I TCPC0007E: TCP Channel TCP_2 listening on host * (IPv6) port 9080 has stopped accepting connections.

Can anyone explain what this message is all about and what to do to solve this issue on z/Linux.
