    Well, the OP wrote:

I don't know whether DECnet Phase IV is supported by the SHOW NETWORK
command. Anyway, it must be registered using SET NETWORK before the SHOW
NETWORK command will return some useful output. I'd assume that this should
happen during installation of Phase IV, as it does for Phase V. But it will
    _not_
happen during a VMS upgrade, when DECnet Phase IV is already installed.

If have an Alpha system running VMS V7.1, DECnet 6.2 (Phase IV) and UCX V4.2
DECnet works fine, but the SHOW NETWORK command returns information for
UCX only. Initially, the system was running VMS V6.2 and was later upgraded
    to
V7.1, but without upgrading DECnet. So I'd guess this is the same situation
    as
    described by the OP.

I've never seen any sense in the SET/SHOW NETWORK commands, so I can
live with a running Phase IV implementation not shown by SHOW NETWORK.

    Greetings, Ferry

Nope. I always used phase-IV-compatible addresses and I never had problems.

The default is to start DECnet (any version) before starting TCP/IP, so
unless you've messed around with it, you won't see the problem.
