  1. vxdg listmove - license peculiarity

I was contemplating trying to move a Veritas volume from one disk group to
    another,
    (on pacioli2, the development V880),
using the procedure in the Administrator's Guide for Veritas Volume
Manager 3.2 for Solaris, August 2001,
Pages 129-130. the "vxdg listmove" is supposed to show what objects are
    affected by moving a volume
from one disk group to another. However, it gave the following error:

    # vxdg listmove rootdg oradevdg upg2-apps
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: vxdg listmove rootdg oradevdg failed
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: listmove failed : License has expired or is not
    available for operation
    # vxdg -o expand listmove rootdg oradevdg upg2-apps
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: vxdg listmove rootdg oradevdg failed
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: listmove failed : License has expired or is not
    available for operation
    #

I'd be surprised if our license really has expired (other aspects of
VVM are working ok), and I am not sure what component this is trying
to use that we would not be licensed for.

    Thanks for any clues.

  2. Re: vxdg listmove - license peculiarity

Diskgroup split and join is licensed through the FlasSnap license.

for 3.2, check it by doing "vxlicense -p"

Bet you do not have one (or it has exipred if you ever had a demo)
