VMSA_sever terminated on startup

I am trying to setup VxVM 3.1 beta on Solaris 8 sparc box. On start up I see
this message

-Error : VERITAS VM Storage Administrator Server terminated.

Can someone please tell me if there are any patches required for Solaris 8 ?
