  1. NetBackup and Exchange 2000

    Do you know if there are support for backup of Exchange 2000 in NetBackup
    3.4 ?

    I get the following error:

    28.01.02 20:39:51: [1920]: INF - OTM Cleanup - success
    28.01.02 20:39:51: [1920]: ETR - NBExBeginBackupSession() ReadHint:32768

    (5.5.2650.17)
    28.01.02 20:39:51: [1920]: INF - NBExBeginBackupSession() Close Exchange
    database on error is enabled.

    MDB Database] failed EXCHANGE 0xC7FF0007: Unable to perform the backup. Either
    you are not connected to the specified backup server or the service you are
    trying to backup is not running.
    28.01.02 20:39:51: [1920]: INF - tar message received from dos_backup::tfs_exchange_expand
    28.01.02 20:39:51: [1920]: FTL - NetBackup Exchange Session initiation failed:

    to the specified backup server or the service you are trying to backup is
    not running.

    28.01.02 20:39:52: [1920]: FTL - Backup operation aborted!

    We have Veritas NetBackup version 3.4 and have been backing up three servers:
    Solaris 7 (file and Oracle), Windows2000 (file) and WinNT (file and Exchange
    5.5). That have worked fine. Now we changed the Exchange server to Win2000
    and Exchange 2000. We get the following errors now (taken from errorlog on
    the Exchange Server, the whole log is on ftp://ftp.support.veritas.com/pub/su...g/012802.txt):

    On the NetBackup Server (Sun Enterprise 450) we get: Error(12) File Open
    error. The NetBackup Client Service on the Exchange Server is started up
    with ExchangeAdmin privilege.

    Can you see what is wrong ?

    Hi,

    Yes NetBackup 3.4 supports Exchange 2000 backups. Have you installed the
    latest Veritas patches ?

  4. Re: NetBackup and Exchange 2000

    Hello and thanks for your comments !

    I could fix the problem with putting the following in to the "Files" in the
    NetBackup-Exchange-selection on the Solaris NetBackup-server:
    Microsoft Information Store:\

    I could choose between "Microsoft Exchange Server: \Information Store\" and
    Microsoft Exchange Server: \Directory\" for Exhange 5.5. objects, but I was
    disapointed that I could not choose the "Microsoft Information Store:\" I
    had to type it in !!??
