QUERY : How to check compression ?
Hi,
I'm using a COMPAQ server with a COMPAQ internal
DLT7000 tape drive.
According to the DLT manual, whether the compression on the
tape drive is enabled/disabled is controlled via the backup
software.
I'm using Netbackup v3.2 on NT Server 4.0.
How do I ensure/check that Netbackup has enabled the
hardware compression on my DLT drive ?
PS : I'm aware there is a COMPRESSION check box in a class
but that is software. I'm more concerned with HARDWARE
compression as provided by the tape drive.
Thanks,
Sean.

I never heard the hardware compression is enabled by a third party software
,i always found hardware compression on the jumper except maybe on unix
system ,in netbackup you specify the device file /dev/rmt0cbn
c stands for compression and I do not know such ability ion the NT side ...
