Thread: Expiration of tapes

  1. Expiration of tapes

Ever since upgrading to Veritas 3.4, I have the
following problem: A number of tapes have
expired but they are not being removed from
the bpmedia list and are not showing up as
    available when the "available_media" command
    is run:

    backupmaster:root $
    /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpmedialist -mlist -l -U -ev 000305
    Server Host = backupslave
id rl images allocated last updated density kbytes
    restores
    vimages expiration last read <-------
    STATUS ------->
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ----
    000305 1 18 08/17/2001 19:00 08/17/2001 19:10 dlt 136938245
    0
    MPX 08/31/2001 19:10 N/A EXPIRED FULL

    backupmaster:root $ egrep 000305 available_media_output_03Sep01_1443
    000305 DLT NONE - - - 1 136938245
    FULL/MPX

Any ideas as to why ?

    Pertinent Details:
    Solaris 7
    Veritas 3.4GA

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Re: Expiration of tapes

There should be a work around on this problem uder a Technote . Also have you
upgrade the version that you have to 3.4.1 yet . This version are far more
    stable
and it had fixed most major bugs than the earlier release

    Hope this will help
