I have the same config and STK said the firmware level on my drives and silo
was old and should be upgraded. I told them to go for it and things have
been better, but I still get down drives every now and again, but not like
before. Do you get unload timeouts, (check /var/adm/messages)? Do tapes get
stuck? Are the leader bands still OK in the drives themselves? There are
many reasons for drives to go down, so you have to start the diagnoses
effort and see what you find.

many times the drives are not configured correctly -- is this a new install?
