Basically, if you have more than one tape device available at the time of
backups you can make it available to EBU to increase performance. This
parameter will tell EBU to generate more than one logical tape stream
(depending on what value you set it too) Once the devices are made
available to EBU you need to keep the devices streaming. One way to do that
is by allowing multiplexing. There are several things you need to know about
multiplexing like parallel multiplexing from one disk usually gains you
nothing because of the disk throughput and head searchs on the disk. Also,
this could increase performance during backups, but could cost you more time
during recovery if for instance you only need to restore 1 datafile. Your
best bet is to read the documentation on Oracle7 Enterprise Backup Utility
Administrator's Guide (check under chapter 6, Improving Performance). You
probably have it on CDROM somewhere. There are a lot of items that need to
be considered and to write them all down could take several chapters. It is
    definitely something to consider though.
