  1. Using IT/O (HP OpenView) to monitor Netbackup process/logs

Hi, we currently have IT/O (Hp OpenView) installed to monitor a server
farm. We also use NetBackup to backup the server farm. Has anyone
implemented templates/actions/monitors to interact or parse logfiles to
generate alarms? If so, could you share the info/cfg (news/by replying
to jaouichc@videotron.com). Also if you use IT/O and would be interested
in monitoring templates, let me know, I'll try to share what I'll create
or send you what I have.

    Thanks

    Hi Cyril Jaouich

Would you be kind enough to also keep me updated once you found the better
solution on this ? I'd the similar problem.

Thanks in advance & looking forward to hear from you soon.

    Good w/e,

I've just started looking at the data source integration guide
you get with HP Openview. From what i can gather, you can set up
DSILOG to view and parse log files such as sar and netbackup logs.

The trick is in creating the right class label and class values
that mean something useful needed lifting from the log files.

You have to use ITO telalert be sure you configure the template correctly or
you will be getting a lot of pages.

  5. Re: Using IT/O (HP OpenView) to monitor Netbackup process/logs

We use the backup_exit_notify and dbbackup_notify scripts to monitor the health
of our Netbackup servers. Within these scripts
we launch the ITO-alerts if there is something wrong.
