  1. Email notifications Netbackup Windows

According to the manuals and documentation it calls \netbackup\bin\nbmail.cmd
and/or \netbackup\bin\backup_exit_notify.cmd - scripts you can modify to
    blat emails out.

After a lot of frustration, to eliminate any scripting errors on my part
I simplified the script so that it simply emails (blat) my address the same
message, and can even be run by double-cliking on the icon in windows explorer.
And it works, I recieve the emails. Yet when the backup finishes I still
    get no notification!

I've entered my email address in Global Attributes and Universal Settings
on the master server, and the latter on the client server just in case.
Have restarted all the services since then.

Yet still no alerts. Anyone any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Matt

You don't need any additional scripts to be written. You need to configure
e-mail notification via Vault - ok. Are you running netbackup 6 at all?
Create a Vault and give it a profile and when you open that profile, you
will need to go through the steps there. basically you need e-mail notification
at the end of a particular eject of Tapes which will show you or whose addresses
you input there the details of that particularVault. It tells about jobs
that have run successfully and on which tapes and so on and so forth. ok!

    Hi Dennis

Thanks for the reply, when I goto create a new policy "Vault" is not one
of the options. Our current scheduled backups are policy type "MS-Windows-NT".

Looking in the help file I found this:
Vault: Available only when Vault is licensed. Use as a policy type to
schedule and run a Vault job.

So I'm assuming we haven't got the vault license, I looked in Help, License
Keys and can't see a mention of Vault in there. Any alternatives you know
of I can use to get this working?

Incidentally we use an autoloaded, don't know if this'll cause a problem
    with the "on eject" notification.

    Many Thanks

    Matt
