NB6 MP4 on Solaris9 - vmoprcmd - network protocol error (39)
Hi All.
Netbackup 6 MP4.
Master and Media Servers on Solaris 9.
The problem repeats every day. When I choose Drives from Devices on Netbackup
Administration Console, I receive a error "network protocol error (39)".
The command "/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmoprcmd -dp ds" hung.
I found the error on the log-file /usr/openv/volmgr/debug/reqlib/log.042307

Re: NB6 MP4 on Solaris9 - vmoprcmd - network protocol error (39)
Hi Alex,
A couple of things to check:
1) Confirm DNS with two consecutive nslookup commands for each server, e.g.:
nslookup master-name
nslookup master-name
nslookup media-server-name
nslookup media-server-name
nslookup admin-console-name
nslookup admin-console-name
....as duplicate DNS names will show up... check thatthe output of each pair
is the same.
Then do all six commands again for their IP addresses.
2) Confirm NetBackup is resolving correctly, issue each of these six
commands on each of three machines, i.e. on master, media and admin console,
i.e. issue eighteen commands:
bpclntcmd -hn master-name
bpclntcmd -ip master-ip
bpclntcmd -hn media-server-name
bpclntcmd -ip media-server-ip
bpclntcmd -hn admin-console-name
bpclntcmd -ip admin-console-ip
....and check the output is the same on all three nodes.
3) Confirm that the admin console is defined with a:
SERVER = name
....for master, media and admion console in each of bp.conf AND vm.conf, with
the master server name first in each file on all three machines, i.e. in six
places master must be first - i.e. two files on three machines.
HTH,
Regards,
Dave.
