  1. Status 1 (RSM open files - device not ready)

    6/27/2005 1:05:15 AM - Warning bpbrm(pid=4104) from client pni-dvaddc01-bak:
WRN - Removable Storage Management: unable to export database (WIN32 21:
The device is not ready. )

I'm getting the above message when backing up a windows 2003 domain controller.

Any ideas what may be causing this - I didn't want to just "exclude it".

Have the same issue with most of my Server 2003 servers. Did some reading,
and disabled the Removable Storage service on the remote servers., as well
as excluded folder c:\WINDOWS\system32\Ntmsdata. Now I get the same warning
except for the error code is WIN32 1058: The service cannot be started, either
it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

Sorry couldn't be more help, but looks like I'm in the boat.

    Walter

I'm getting the same error with the same system (win 03 domain controller).

Were you able to get any resolution?
