  1. Volume Groups & Mail Notification

    Hello.

    I'm new to Netbackup and need some assistance. I am trying to setup up 2
    things :

    1) Volume Groups - I have tried to find any infomation at all with no luck
    on how to create them. If I right click the only new options I get are stuff
    like actual volumes and pools. No groups - so how do I set them up???

    2) Mail notification - I have blat installed and can run it from a command
    line and by executing nbmail.cmd but where do I set the information in
    Netbackup telling it what I want to be notified of??? I entered my email
    address in Global Attributes of my master server configuration but have
    recieved no e-mail as of yet - is there something I'm missing???

    The setup is Netbackup Datacenter 3.4
    Master - Windows NT4 w SP6a
    Media - Solaris 2.8 w/ 5 9840 STK drives.

    Any information is appreciated

    For your mail program to work you need to download a program cal BLAT, this
    is freeware. Once this is configure you can setup the notify program.

    I have downloaded blat and installed it - I can get it to send me mail from
    the command line and from nbmail.cmd (if I execute the program from the
    veritas bin directory) but beyond that I cannot find how to set it up to
    notify me for different backups.

    Does your nbmail.bat with have a line that looks line this

    @blat %3 -s %2 -t %1 -i NetBackup -server 10.14.92.12

    Inside the different cmds files you should have a ine that look like this

    @call %NB_MAIL_SCRIPT% emailnamegoeshere "NetBackup Verify Status" %OUTFILE%

    This is sightly different for each cmd file.
