I have a Linux cluster with a bonded Virtual IP. Anytime I failover the service group (or even just the IP resource) I am no longer able to ping the IP address from a different subnet.

For example: Node A has the IP 10.144.24.90 I can ping it from a server outside the subnet (10.136.126.205). Now if I fail over to Node B, I can no longer ping from the same server...until I send an 'arping -s 10.144.24.90 10.144.25.255 -I bond1.448'.

Any idea why I would need to do this?
