Thread: Cluster evacuate dependencies

  1. Cluster evacuate dependencies

    I have 3 service groups, letīs call them A, B, C. A is a DB, B is a online
locally firm application, C is a globally firm application.

    I have a cluster with 2 nodes:

Host_A: has Service group A and B online
Host_B: has Service group C online

When I evacuate Host_A, VCS sets all service groups offline (due to the dependency
of Service Group C from Service Group A, and then sets Service Group A and
B online on Host_B. However, it does not restart service group C).

    Then engine log says:

    TAG_E 2003/12/23 10:17:37 VCS:10493:Evaluating Host_A as potential target
    node for group C
    TAG_E 2003/12/23 10:17:37 VCS:10160:System Host_A is frozen
    TAG_E 2003/12/23 10:17:37 VCS:10493:Evaluating Host_B as potential target
    node for group C
    TAG_E 2003/12/23 10:17:37 VCS:50002:MigrateQ for group C contains system
    Host_B; group might be transitioning

However, the service group C is not set online on Host_B. Does anybody have
an idea on how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Martin

  2. Re: Cluster evacuate dependencies

Seems like the system (Host_A) is frozen. This means that service groups can
go away from it, but nothing is able to fail to it.

Try "hasys -display" and check if it is frozen.

    To unfreeze: "hasys -unfreeze Host_A"

(might be a presistent freeze, so just check if the system is Frozen
    (persistent) or TFrozen (temporary).
