  1. VCS and cron jobs

I've been using a wrapper script for cron jobs on a VCS cluster
that first checks that a VxVM diskgroup is on the local machine
and will only run the cron job if this is the case. We then
install application cron tasks on all machines in the cluster,
but they only get executing on the one with the corresponding
    disk group.
I wanted to do it by checking for the VCS Service Group being
local, but it seems that you can only check this as root, which
is no good for my non-root cron jobs. I now have a Service Group
that does not have a diskgroup associated with it, and have to
    think of a new method.
Does anyone have a more eelegant solution ?.

    Thanks,
    Chris.

Ah! Welcome to my problem too. See the question about "one-time operations".
W/o creating an agent for it, you'll have to just do what you're already
    doing.
Unfortunatly, you run the risk that one crontab maybe out of
    sync with the others.

You could chmod 4750 the hares binary and invent a group, vcsadmin, whic
could execute it as root maybe... I'm doing something similar with
    halog.

I wish. If you have one though, please pass it along
