  1. Writing messages to Event Log

    Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to have Backup Exec 9.0 or 8.6 write repsonse
messages to the Event log of the computer it is running on. I know it writes
informational messgaes to the log, but it does not write response messages
such as Please insert overwritable media, or Please remove the media from
    the drive.

We would like to do this as we are using IBM's Tivoli to monitor our systems
and right now it is just grabbing messages from the Windows Event Logs.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Did you look at the Alerts tab? I do not have the gui in front of me, but
it seems like you could define the action to take for an alert. Maybe
    under alert categories.

IN Backup Exec 9.0 it is under the alerts tab. One of the options for each
alert type is to write it to the event log and it tells you the event ID.
In 8.6 or earlier the only options I could find are to send a net send message,
email, or page. I couldn't find an option about writing to the event log.
