  1. Remote Agent issues with Backup Exec for Windows 2000/NT version 8.6

I recently experienced an array failure on one of the Windows NT 4 servers
that is in our backup schedule. I removed the array controller and the array
since this server has been redeployed in a lesser function on our network.
I reloaded the remote agent on the target server and it is present and running
when I view services. When the backup is run the job log indicates the remote
agent is not present and Backup Exec will preform a standard backup. The
target server event viewer shows an error id 2006, "The server received an
incorrectly formatted request from \\backupservername". I applied the edit
registry fix suggested on the Veritas website to force the target server
to re-register with the backup server but the result is the same. We then
reinstalled NT4 and service packed it to the latest revision. We also reloaded
the remote agent and verified it was present and running prior to attempting
another backup. Unfortunately that did not fix our problem and I note the
same error message in the event log. We are not running Netware emulation
or AppleTalk and there is nothing different about this server other than
the array controller and array had been removed. Prior to this hardware
failure the backups were running flawlessly on this server for over a year.
    Any thoughts?

You mention AppleTalk: we had a similar problem quite some time ago with
    8.5.
We didnīt run AppleTalk either, but we had to remove a registry entry
referencing this; sadly I forgot where you can find it in the reg.

Thanks for the response. I will look for any reference to AppleTalk in the
    registry and remove it.
