  1. Backup Job Not Completing. Status Running Forever

    Hi,
We've installed Backup Exec 9 on a new Windows 2000 SBS Server. Our backup
job appears to be running and backing up the data to our tape but the job
is not completing. It just remains in a RUNNING state.

We've disabled the Remove Stoages service as suggested in a veritas artical.

The jpb histroy report shows the job as completed but the status remains
running and the eject tape request never completed.

    Any suggestions ?

    Thanks,
    Alan

I've found that if I turn off the VERIFY AFTER COMPLETION the problem is removed.
Does anyone know what could be wrong that the Verify is giving problems ?

    Alan.

We have had similar results. I thought I had it fix with a registry hack to
disable intelligent disaster recovery but I guess I was wrong.

Do you have SP1 and all the post SP1 bugfixes installed?

Get the Windows 2000 resource kit and learn how to use ptree.exe to kill
hung processes. We use this a couple of times a week to get our tape out.

Also, make sure you have SP1 installed. If you have purchased IDR, look in
the Veritas KB for instructions on how to disable it via the registry. Veritas
is sorry for the inconvienience, but not sorry enough to help.
