Thread: Backup of Active directory DC results in 1000 and 1001 errors

  1. Backup of Active directory DC results in 1000 and 1001 errors

Backup Exec ver 8.6 build 3878 w/open file option. If the System State is
included in the full backup, errors 1000 and 1001 are logged. The DC cannot
access shares on any other computers including the sysvol of another DC
(hence 1000 and 1001 errors). Error message attempting to access sysvol
share of another DC (or any share on any PC-this DC cannot access it own
SYSVOL share using UNC) using network neighborhood is "\\computername\sysvol
is not accessible. The network path was not found." No other workstations
or DC's have a problem accessing shares on the affected server. Rebooting
the affected DC resolves the problem until the next backup. I have removed
and reinstalled Backup Exec and OFO and the workstation service. DC is
running DNS and WINS which have also been removed and reinstalled. Primary
DNS and WINS have also been pointed to another DC with no affect. NTDS and
SYSVOL on the affected server have been removed from the file backup, backup
of these folders and files is only done during system state backup. The
system state is the last thing done during a full backup, as soon as that is
finished and before verify the errors begin occurring. No other DC's are
experiencing any backup problems. This is the only issue on the affected
DC, no other uncommon events are recorded until the backup. During the
backup, no problem is reported until system state is backed up. System
State can be backed up separately successfully, and full backups without the
system state do not result in the error. If anyone has experienced similar
problems I would like to hear your resolution. Thank you.

  2. Re: Backup of Active directory DC results in 1000 and 1001 errors

I was incorrect-a seperate backup of system state only resulted in 1000 and
    1001 errors.
