    Hi,

I've read a lot of posts about people receiving the "no more data on the
tape" error message, but that was in 2000 and 2001 and it seemed to be
regarding Backup Exec version 8.5. I also noticed that from the Veritas
Article 233735, this error is usually accompanies the true problem, which is
that BE kills the header of the tape and the tape is now seen as
"Unrecognized Media" in the Devices location.

This error was received during a verification of a NetWare server backup.
It was the next to last job. The tape that this job backed up to is not
listed as "Unrecognized Media" and the next job right after this one
completed successfully. I even reinventoried the tapes this morning to see
if the tape would show as "Unrecognized Media", but it didn't.

This is the first time I've seen this message. I'm going to let the backups
run again tonight and see what happens (the jobs tonight will be appending
to this same tape). In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas regarding
this problem, in light of my BE version and other facts mentioned? Thanks.

    Ryan

    Hi,

Well, the backups ran again last night and the same tape was used from the
night before and was appended to. All of the backups ran fine. Even the
one that failed the night before during the verify. I guess this was just
    a fluke failure. Thanks.
