Thread: e-mail notification interval

  1. e-mail notification interval

    hi,

have somebody any idea, how I can limit the e-mail notification to "one time
only" - because I get e-mails every few minutes when a user-action (change
    tape etc.) is required.

This was posted recently by someone who contacted Veritas. I've never
tried it, so use at your own risk

To change how often the alert is resubmitted (which affects how often an
email notification is sent), perform the following steps:
    1. Install Backup Exec for Windows NT v8.0 build 3314 (or newer revision).
    2. In Control Panel | Services, stop all the Backup Exec services
    3. Run "Regedt32.exe" from either a command prompt or through Windows NT
    Explorer
    4. Locate and highlight the following registry key:
    - Registry Path: /HKEY_Local_Machine/Software/Veritas/Adamm/
    5. On the Registry menu, select Edit | Add Key
    6. In the "Key Name" field, type: "Alerts" (do not include the quotes).
    Leave the "Class" field empty
    7. Select OK
    8. While highlighting the "Alerts" key (created in step #6),
select Edit | Add Value from the menu
    9. In the "Value Name" field, type: "Insert Overwrite Media Changer
    Response"
    (do not include the quotes)
    10. In the "Data Type" field, select "REG_DWORD"
    11. Select "OK".
    12. Change the "Radix" to "Decimal".
    13. In the "Data" field, enter "1" (no quotes)(Figure 1). This will turn
on an automatic response for the "operator attention".
    14. Select "OK".
    15. While highlighting the "Alerts" key (created in step #6),
select Edit | Add Value from the menu
    16. In the "Value Name" field, type: "Insert Overwrite Media Changer
    Timeout"
    (do not include the quotes)
    17. In the "Data Type" field, select "REG_DWORD"
    18. Select "OK".
    19. Change the "Radix" to "Decimal".
    20. In the "Data" field, enter a numerical value. This value is the number
of seconds that the alert will be displayed before it is withdrawn
    21. Select "OK".

    Registry Key Description Possible Values
Insert Overwrite Media Changer Response Enables the autoresponse 0,1
    (1 = enable autoresponse)

    Insert Overwrite Media Changer Timeout
The number of seconds that the alert will be displayed before it is
    withdrawn
    0 indicates an infinite timeout
