RE: Unable to initialize Remote Agent for NT/2000??
Hello - I am getting a "unable to intialize remote agent for NT/2000 -
performing standard backup" message in my backup log when performing backup
on one of our network servers, which has the remote agent installed. It
seems to backup all the drives on the server and my backups verify and
complete successfully. I am currently on Backup Exec v8.6 Build 3808.
Need some help on what is causing this message and how I can stop it. Any
help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Unable to initialize Remote Agent for NT/2000??
Two things to check first
1) On the backup server, from the GUI do Help/About to verify that the
serial was properly intalled
2) On the remote server. verify that the BEREMOTE service is indeed running
If both those are true,
Try doing this first on the Backupexec Server, then if that doesn't work,
try it on the remote server.
On the server where the Agent Accelerator/Remote Agent is installed locate
the registry key by performing the following:
1. Go to Start > Run.
3. Type Regedt32 and locate the key
"\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\WinSock\Parameters\Transports"
If there is a reference to the AppleTalk protocol and it is not installed
on the system, then remove this entry and reboot the server. The Agent
Accelerator/Remote
Agent service should start and the remote server can be backed up.
If no reference to AppleTalk can be found in the registry path mentioned
above, install AppleTalk and just disable it.
