Those rates seem a bit low for an DLT 8000... I would check your network
settings and make sure you don't have a duplex mismatch somewhere.

Here's my fastest backup server, local backup, Compaq ML570 with Comaq SDLT
    110/200 drive.

Backup completed on 8/21/2002 at 11:44:09 PM.
Backed up 2204 files in 302 directories.
Processed 162,274,668,794 bytes in 1 hour, 37 minutes, and 28 seconds.
    Throughput rate: 1587.8 MB/min

    Trey,

Thanks for your response and suggestion.
I did a check of the network and found 1
machine running at 10 half duplex.
Yup, it was the server that had the tape machine.

I set the NIC for 100 full and did my next backup.

    Sun Backup Agent
Backed up 295132 files in 12881 directories.
    1 item was skipped.
Processed 8,667,628,549 bytes in 52 minutes and 23 seconds.
    Throughput rate: 157.8 MB/min

    thanks
