    We are getting the following error when backuping up the Information store

    Backup of "\\NTSERVER01\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group "
    Backup set #1 on storage media #1
    Backup set description: "Backup 0020"
    Backup Type: FULL - Database & Logs (flush committed logs)
    Backup started on 01/08/2002 at 16:13:04 .
    Access denied to database .
    ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
    WARNING: "Mailbox Store (NTSERVER01)" is a corrupt file.
    This file cannot verify.
    ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
    Log files

    Backup completed on 01/08/2002 at 16:23:22 .
    Backed up 2 Exchange Server store(s)
    Backed up Exchange Server logs
    1 corrupt file was backed up

    What is causing this and how to I fix it.

    Been having the same issues here - veritas dont want to know about it unless
    i pay for support - nice to pay a fortune for a product and get told that
    (why am i really seriously thinking about alternatives right now...)

    Any one got ANY ideas on how to fix this - i know its not the service account..

    so the service account has domain admin rights and the service account's role
    in exchange is service account admin (5.5) or Exchange Full Admin (Exchange2k)?
    if so, did this used to work and all of a sudden error out, or has it never
    worked. I ask because there are two different things to do.

    But, if the service account doesn't at least meet the basic rights, there
    is no need to troubleshoot further.

    One thing you can try (just to make sure it isn't the service account) is
    to stop all BE services and change the login to the Exchange Service ACCOUNT.....if
    it succeeds, then there is something wrong with the BE service account....if
    it fails, then you can try to reset the password database.

    stop services
    rename bewinui.uni
    start services
    run a test backup

    When you buy the software, whoever you bought it from should have told you
    that VERITAS support is not that much when buying a package....hell even
    the one-packs are only $89.....i know a lot of people that just call VERITAS
    and pay 89 than call Microsoft and pay $250 and hour

    another thing.....do the Exchange backup in NTBACKUP and see if it errors....if
    nothing is wrong with the service account, then it will still fail....you
    have to look at the NTBACKUP log because it will only tell you if it finished
    or not in the application itself.

    I am having EXACTLY the same problem, using the administrators account too!
    Strange because it occassionally manages a 100% backup still. I have tried
    reinstalling etc with no luck at all.
