Thread: Is NTBackup SQL aware?

  1. Is NTBackup SQL aware?

Sorry, this is not a BackupExec related question but I'm sure some of you
have had experience with NTBackup. I'm just wondering if NTbackup (on
windows 2000 server) is SQL server aware. I know that it is Exchange aware.
How about SQL? Can we use it to do online SQL 2000 backup? Thanks much.

  2. Re: Is NTBackup SQL aware?

Forgot to ask 1 more question. Does the trial version of BENT (no S/N during
installation) have SQL enabled? Can we use it to backup SQL online or do we
have to download the SQL option as well?

Its not SQL aware, schedule a database backup to file for your sql databases
from within SQL, and get NTbackup to pick that file during your normal
    backup
