Thread: Stuck loading media on a restore job

  1. Stuck loading media on a restore job

I tried restoring an item from a backup take and it is stuck on
loading media. I have tried aborting job but now it won't allow
me to do this either. Item is greyed out. Plus it will not
run scheduled daily backups because this one restore job is
active but doesn't do anything. How can I get rid of this active
    restore job the is stuck?

  2. Re: Stuck loading media on a restore job

At this point about all you can do is manually eject the tape, and stop the
BackupExec services. If that doesn't work, try KILLing them (from the ResKit).
If that doesn't work you are looking at re-booting the server.

I had already rebooted the file server this morning and that
did not help. Duhhhhhhhh never thought about stopping the
services. Just completed that now and it has worked. Took the
active restore job off and left the scheduled backup for tonight.
Thanks for your help I really appreciated it !!!!

I am having the same problem.....almost. I don't have the right tape that
the system is looking for and I cannot kill the job. You mentioned the Reskit?
    What is that? Thanks.

The Resource Kit. There is a similar utility on sysinternals.com see http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr.../pstools.shtml
