Backup Job Setup Question
A quick overview of my problem:
I am running a full backup job every week to our storage disk array. Then
it gets backuped from the disk array to tape over the weekend (the tape gets
stored off site).
The folder on the disk array where the weekly back ups go to will store (at
least depending on the month) 5 weeks of information at one time. They have
an overwrite protection of 5 days.
When I run the disk to tape backup, I have to backup the whole folder. This
is filling up the tapes I have allocated for that job on our DLT loader.
My question is: Is there to setup my weekly disk to tape backup to only
backup the "newest" job from the disk array folder. In other words if I
have 4 previous backups from April in the folder and the newest backup is
from May, how do I only get May's backup and not the other 4 from April? I
am assuming there is probably going to have to be some scripting to be
done??
Thanks

Re: Backup Job Setup Question
Before playing around with scripts, (unless you like that kind of thing )
you could always run a separate incremental job on that folder. Since you
will rarely if ever be changing a .BKF file, that ought to solve your problem,
right?

Re: Backup Job Setup Question
Ahh yes.. That is a good idea. Only backup the weeks material where the
archive bit has been set.
Thanks Ken.
