  1. build 3808 vs 3878

i'm running Backup Exec v8.6 for windows 2000 build 3808 and i have been having
problems with the Open file option returning an insufficient resource error
on some backups.. I found the hotfix for this exact problem, but it states
that it is for Backup Exec 8.6 revision 3878 which I'm assuming is a build
    after mine..

    http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/245401.htm#Summary

I was wondering if there was a way to either patch my build up to this number,
or if there was a patch for 3808, OR if the 3878 patch would work OK on my
earlier build.. Thanks for any input!

  2. Re: build 3808 vs 3878

I'd take Veritas at their word. if they say that it's only for one build, I'd only
    apply it to that build

Just download the 3878 install file, then run setup and install to the same
location. Since they are the same version, you shouldn't need to enter any serials
    or do any reconfiguration.

You should uninstall version 3808 (choose only remove program files!) then
downlown the latest version off this webpage. This should preserve the jobs
and logs. If you have a CD burner make a CD of this.

go here for english version of 8.6 3878
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/241035

Also build 3878 supports XP machines 3808 doee not.

By the way when buying new software it is usally obsoleate with a old version.
I always make a CD with the latest, your serial numbers will work as long
as same version 8.6 to 8.6.

  6. Re: build 3808 vs 3878

Look at the updates and patches page there is a download for bent 3878, but
    remember

you also need to download hotfix 2 fior the ofo problem that exists on bent
    3878.

Beware, there are some issues with regarding restoring 3808 data to a server
    running

3878, if you have permissions set on local folders.

    Good luck.
