  1. Alert Server/Notification Server Issue

We're running backup exec 8.6 under WinNT 4 SP6a When I attempt to configure
the notification setup, the backup exec app begins not responding. The application
event log is full (literally) of the following threeerrors: 33489 Fatal
Error - Attempt to access the Alert Server singleton object failed. 33495
Fatal Error - Unable to initialize the Alert Server and 33503 Fatal Error
    - The Alert Server was unable to connect to the Notification Server. I
am unable to find info on these errors except that they do seem to be BE
specific. Any ideas would be appreciated.

We are having the same problem. I'm not sure why these messages fill up the
event viewer, but so far the only option I've found on this matter is to
uninstall the product, which is not very useful on a production box that
needs to be available 24-7. If anyone has any ideas how to solve this, please
    reply. Thx.

I am working on the same problem right now. Before I had to reinstall Symantec
NAV Corporate Edition 7.6, everything was working perfectly on my server
(Windows NT 4.0). Not only the services use a lot of CPU but I don't see
my catalogs anymore even if they are still there. I will try to resolve the
    problem, keep you posted.

I'm also having the same problem on Windows 2000. Everything was fine, nothing
new installed, just changed some network settings to connect to a domain.
    Now event log is FULL.
