  1. Schedule of job doesn't move to next job

I have a problem that I wasn't aware of until I (finally) took a day of vacation.

I have a job setup to run Tuesday through Friday mornings at 2:00am. At the
end of the job I have it set to eject the tape.

Everything has been working great, except when I was off one day, my fill-in
simply swapped in a new tape. They didn't look to verify that the job was
good or anything, didn't even log onto the server, they just swapped tapes.
Well, that was a Tuesday, and when Wednesday morning 2:00am rolled around...nothing
happened. The scheduled job didn't go.

I checked, and it appears that unless I open up Veritas, click on the two
messages that appear before each backup job (one warning it's going to overwrite,
the second asking to remove the tape) acknowledging them, the next scheduled
    backup won't occur.

This is on BENT 8.6 3058.

Any ideas on how to get around this? Having to open up the backup job and
click OK twice seems silly, but I can't find out how to get around it.

    Thanks.

    Hi Trey,

Under my Options/Media Overwrite, I have the Media Overwrite Protection level
set to "None", and the "Prompt before overwriting..." is not checked.

That's what doesn't make sense, everything indicates the jobs should be going
along just fine, but they aren't.

    Thanks.

Under the Options, Media Overwrite tab, depending on what you picked, you
will have to uncheck the Prompt before check box. If you are using Full
protection, you are require to respond to the Alerts.

    Several things to lookat:

    1) Make sure (From tools/Options) that overwrite protection is set to Partial,
adn that you have approptiate retention periods on your media sets (6 days
for dailies, 27 days for weeklies, etc)

    2) Remove "Eject-On_End" from the job description and eject manually when
    you go to swap tapes.

    3) Teach your fill-in how to use the product. If he doesn't do it right,
slap him up side the head!!
