  1. Error: OFO: Insufficient system resources exist to initialize OFO.

    Hi.

I recently upgraded to Backup Exec 8.6 Rev. 3808 and everything seemed to go
well until I ran my first backup. The backup failed and during my
examination of the log file I noticed several OFO errors on several servers.
I managed to correct the errors on all the servers except one by increasing
the size of the static file (both its max and min) to the maximum 10GB using
the OFO wizard on each server experiencing the problem. I wasn't sure if
this was the best fix, but I had the available disk space and it seems to
    have worked.

In spite of the modification I made, I still have one server that still is
showing the OFO error. I have included an excerpt of the log file showing
the remaining error. The error is occurring on a Dell PowerEdge 4400
running Windows NT 4.0 SP 6a with 1GB of RAM and 172GB of disk space. The
RAID is divided into 4 partitions C,D,E,F. This server is also the host for
our Dell Powervault backup device and is running Backup Exec locally.

I have set the MAX and MIN of the static file size to 10GB on the F drive
(f:\temp) (which has close to 60GB of open space) but I am still receiving
an error from the OFO. Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms
    of solving this problem?

    Thanks!

    Hunter

    Ken,

So you think this is because the static file is too large? Wow, I would
    have never guessed that.

    That's a Veritas solution, but if it works . . .

See also my other response for a guestimator for OFO stataic file sizing.

  8. Re: OFO: Insufficient system resources exist to initialize OFO.

I have a similar problem, a log is:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
OFO: Insufficient system resources exist to initialize OFO.
    OFO: Initialization failure on: "\\GP1\C$"

    Performing Remote Agent backup

    Media Name: "Media created 13.08.2002 03:00:06 "
    Backup of "\\GP1\C$ "
Backup set #5 on storage media #1
Backup set description: "BKP MS 2"
Backup Type: FULL - Back Up Files - Reset Archive Bit
    Backup started on 13.08.2002 at 04:10:50 .

    Backup completed on 13.08.2002 at 04:11:08 .
Backed up 5185 files in 43 directories.
Processed 24.040.091 bytes in 18 seconds.
    Throughput rate: 76,4 MB/min
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ....
I have enough space on that disk (4.5 GB)
    HELP?!

  9. Re: OFO: Insufficient system resources exist to initialize OFO.

Some suggestions: Make sure that you have the latest build of 8.6 installed
and fully patched. Run the OFO wizard (found under Tools). There are also a
number of support documents covering this issue in the support section of
the Veritas site. For starters check out these:

    http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/245401.htm
    http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/245902.htm
