You need to update the virus scan engine in BENT. You will find the update
on the Veritas webite. The file is bnt8xvirupd_240051.exe. This was posted
before, but as it took a while for me to find it, I thought other might like
it reposted. It does solve the problem. It seems to affect .htm and .html
files the most.

We also just started having the same problem. However, we are
still running ver 7.3 and the notes for this update state that
it is for version 8.0 and 8.5. Does anyone know if this update
will also work for 7.3? Could updating the virus definition
files have started this problem?

I've had exactly the same problem with v7.3. It started about two weeks ago
just after I downloaded a new virus definition file. I've downloaded two
more recently to try to fix the problem but it hasn't worked. I hope Veritas
will get a fix soon.

I'm having the same problem with v7.3. Is Veritas going to supply a patch
for v7.3? Could the Nimba virus cause this problem? I know a couple of my
servers were attacked and I was able to clean the files, but I know that
alot of HTM and HTML files were infected.

The problem is fixed. Yesterday I downloaded the latest virus definition
files and today, my log was 1/3 the size. Thank you Veritas.

We've actually had servers crash due to this problem. But 1031u1 seems to
have fixed
the problem for us as well.

i had the same problem before. Last time i had to uninstall BENT and the reinstall
it. It happened to 2 machines of mine. i noticed that it happened after i
run the virus update. Both machines started to give these errors and the
files that could not be scanned were so many that the log files would so
big that it would fill out my hard drive and then BENT would fail the backup
due to not enough space on the hard drive.I did reinstalled BENT to these
2 machines and then i had no problem...well that is until now that i updated
the virus signatures again and little by little i am getting more of these
files not getting scanned due to access errors. I dont think i should be
uninstalling and installing BENT every time i start to get these error mesages
but im looking to see if somedoby else run into this problem and see if a
solution was found for it.Also i notice that when i update the virus signature
it gets to 50% and then stops. i have to stop all the service to make it
go away from the job status screen and then update the virus one more time.
Let me know if you find a fix for this.
