barcode labels - Veritas Backup Exec
This is a discussion on barcode labels - Veritas Backup Exec ; I'm using a compaq DLT891x (with autoloader and barcodereader)minilibrary
with Veritas 8.6. I'm also trying to use barcodelabels however Veritas seems

barcode labels
I'm using a compaq DLT891x (with autoloader and barcodereader)minilibrary
with Veritas 8.6. I'm also trying to use barcodelabels however Veritas seems
not to be able to read all labels. I've switched labels in the slots so i
know all labels can be read but still
veritas does not read the labels in the first three slots
It does read the default compaq labels but not the ones i've made with a
program (barcode maker 3)
Does anyone has any experience with barcodereader in this combination ??

Re: barcode labels
This might be a stupid question but do you have the 8.6 tape library option
purchased and installed. BE needs that option in order to use the barcode
reader.

How long are your tape names - The DLT89x can only read 8 character barcode
labels - found this out the hard way probably like you are experiencing -
nobody at Compaq (HP?) I have spoken to knows of a fix - probably to do with
memory restrictions (Must be an old DOS hangover I reckon!@#$)

Re: barcode labels
There might be a length problem or format problem.I got the same problem
with my DELL 130T (Storagetek). It's must be specific format for any brand
like my storagetek use XXXXXXd format (7 chars and must be 3 of 9 standard
barcode format).
