After changing the database to be single user mode, the restore worked
leaving the database in (Loading) Mode.

When I issued the statement refer in document 191449, the following is the

    from MS SQL 7.0

    Server: Msg 4318, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
File 'Tomastest_Data' has been rolled forward to LSN 5000000002300001. This
log terminates at LSN 0, which is too early to apply the WITH RECOVERY
option. Reissue the RESTORE LOG statement WITH NORECOVERY.
    Server: Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Backup or restore operation terminating abnormally.

Please know that this is BE 8.0 on a MS SQL 7.0 version

  4. Re: Restore SQL database using BE 8.0 leaves database in 'Loading' Mode

Are yoyu doing a "normal" backup (database and logs) or a database only backup?

Are you restoring to the origianl server or redirecting?

Try database rather than file group backups/restores.

After changing the database to be single user mode, the restore worked
leaving the database in (Loading) Mode.

When I issued the statement refer in document 191449, the following is the
    respond
    from MS SQL 7.0

    Server: Msg 4318, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
File 'Tomastest_Data' has been rolled forward to LSN 5000000002300001. This
log terminates at LSN 0, which is too early to apply the WITH RECOVERY
option. Reissue the RESTORE LOG statement WITH NORECOVERY.
    Server: Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Backup or restore operation terminating abnormally.

Please know that this is BE 8.0 on a MS SQL 7.0 version

  6. Re: Restore SQL database using BE 8.0 leaves database in 'Loading' Mode

By default the recover database option is not selected, this allows you to
restore multiple backups to the same database (for differential backups and
restores). If you have a full database backup and want to simply restore
the database you need to select the option to recover the database.

    Hope this helped.
