  1. BE 8.5 Build 3571 and SQL 2000

    I have a Win2k SP1 server running BE 8.5 build 3571. I cannot see my SQL
2000 installs. I have the SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager installed and have
registered the SQL servers successfully. I can see and backup my SQL 7.0
    installs.

I have tried re-installing the SQL agent and BE entirely with no luck.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Was v8.0 upgraded to v8.5 via the free download?

In that case, you need to purchase the v8.5 agent. The agnet in the download
    only supports SQL v7

It does, if you want to continue using it after the 60-day demo period expires

Thanks for the response. One other thing. I installed BE 8.5 in demo mode
on a test box. From that installation, I was able to see the SQL 2000
installs. Does that still mean I need to purchase a new agent?

    Thanks again

  5. Re: BE 8.5 Build 3571 and SQL 2000

You`ll need to purchase the agent license for SQL 2000, the one for SQL 7
    will not work.

  6. Re: BE 8.5 Build 3571 and SQL 2000

Correct, in evaluation mode everything except the IDR option is available.
As soon as you put in Backup Exec license you will need a valid license for
each option. With SQL and Exchange there are different licenses for SQL 7
and 2000 and Exchange 5.5 and 2000 respectively.

  7. Re: BE 8.5 Build 3571 and SQL 2000

I have a similar issue. We are getting ready to move to 8.6. If we use the
CD that we get as part of our maint, will this fix this issue??

As long as you have the necessary number of Remote Agent and SQL serials,
    it ought to.
