    Hi all.

I use backup exec 8.6 on SBS2000 and we backup our exchange mailboxes
everyday (about 600 megs) and any files that changed today..
Now What i would like to know is what is the best practise for the daily
bacjup, i dont back up the stores is that a bad idea..they get doen weekly..

Also it seems to backup around 900 meg every day and i am positive that this
much does not change in a day ...most days only 3 people are using a
computer all that changes really are new emails..

Can anyone suggest a better way fo backing up and taking up less space.

    Thx All

What is giving you the large size of daily is the mailboxes. BE does not do
an incremental or differential on the mailboxes, so you are backing up
basically the whole IS every night. (IS + changed files)

I would say it is bad idea not to backup the IS and DS nightly. If you turn
off circular logging you can do a Incremental backup nightly and Full back
up weekly of IS/DS. So on nightly backups you get IS/DS logs and mailboxes
and weekly Full ID/DS databases. This would greatly reduce backup time and
    media usage.

You can separately set backup types for file system and Exchange per job.

Don't do it! Bricklayer backups are strongly discouraged.

Backup the Info and the dorectory.

The bigger your info store gets, the expeditially longer it takes to do a
    bricklayer backup of theinformation store

check out this URL about backing up individual mailboxes
