We've recently upgraded BENT from 7.3 to 8.5 successfully. We've also added
OFO which was not part of our original installation. However, now the same
job takes approximately 2 hours longer. It also appears (I have yet to
confirm this) that we're getting less storage per tape.

For example, we previously backed up about 161.6GB on three DLT tapes. This
took just shy of 9 hours to complete. On the other hand, we recently backed
up 159GB after the upgrade and it required four tapes. This job took just
over 11 hours to complete. Both are the same job definition, but we removed
some files from backup to keep under four tapes.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? I expect that it would
take a little longer because of the OFO, but is two hours normal? Is less
data per tape normal? The error logs are clean (having no errors) and the
backups seem to be good. There was also very little utilization of the
servers or network at the time.

Any thoughts are appriciated.

Thanks,

Steve.
